Now part of the Zalmy.AI governed package
LedgerRail is the open record layer.
A human decides. LedgerRail records it faithfully. Anyone can verify the record. It's the audit-chain underneath every agent action — propose, approve, confirm — and it now ships as part of the Zalmy.AI governed package, not as a product you buy on its own.
What It Is
LedgerRail is a governance layer that sits between your AI agents and any system they touch. Every action enters as a proposal, passes through a policy check that can require human approval, and only executes after confirmation. The result is a hash-chained audit trail that captures who approved what, when, and why.
Why It Exists
AI agents are executing consequential actions — writing to databases, sending communications, modifying financial records — and someone needs to be able to answer, plainly, "who decided that, and can I check?" LedgerRail is the record layer that answers it: every action is proposed, a human (or a policy a human set) decides, and the result is written to a verifiable chain. That used to be something you'd bolt on or buy separately. It's now built into every tier of the Zalmy.AI governed package — the open record standard underneath the work, not a second product to manage.
How It Works
Propose
An agent submits an action proposal to the governance layer. The proposal includes the intended action, affected resources, and risk classification.
Approve
Policy evaluates the proposal. Low-risk, previously approved action types execute immediately. High-risk actions route to a human approver before proceeding.
Confirm
The action executes and is recorded in a SHA-256 hash chain. Every entry is cryptographically linked to the previous entry — tamper-detectable, audit-ready, and open to inspection by anyone with access to the record.
Open Rail, Kept Cargo
The record layer is built as an open core: the governance rail — policy checks, audit trail, and hash-chain logic — is being released under the Apache 2.0 license as a shared standard, while the judgment tier that rides on top stays proprietary. Public repository and license link to follow at release.
The North Star
The standard LedgerRail is built to, and the standard it holds every tier of the Zalmy.AI governed package to.
